Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said there was a chance for success in US mediation on the issue and called on Europe, the parties to the Ukraine conflict, and other interested countries to join the negotiations.
“In the absence of the United States[to engage directly with Europe on the Ukraine issue]Europe needs to seek more creative solutions to become stronger. We believe that the only viable way to end this war is to approach negotiations with good faith and determination,” he said at a forum in Doha, according to TASS. “The United States has every chance of success.”
The minister noted that despite continued hostilities, “we need a platform for exchange and continued dialogue.”
“From the beginning, I advised our friends in Ukraine and Europe to do so, and during the Biden administration, I told our friends in the United States as well. I believe that negotiations provide an important opportunity. It may not immediately stop the war, but it will certainly help the warring parties and stakeholders, and it will create additional opportunities and opportunities,” he said.
