Sources reported that Egypt had issued a warning to the Israeli regime regarding the crossing of Rafah.
Egypt has warned Israel through various channels and in-person meetings, including one held in Cairo over the past 48 hours, that it opposes the unilateral reopening of the Rafah border.
According to reports, Egypt wants to reopen Rafah in both directions to allow Palestinians to leave and enter the Gaza Strip.
This comes as the Israeli regime intends to reopen the crossing, only to allow Palestinians to escape from Gaza towards Egypt, without the possibility of return.
Egyptian officials stressed that they oppose any plans by Tel Aviv aimed at implementing projects to force the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatti also said yesterday that the Rafah crossing will never be a gateway for expelling Palestinians from Gaza, but will remain only as a route for delivering humanitarian aid to residents of the enclave.
He also said at the Doha meeting that the Israeli regime routinely violates the ceasefire and that there is a need to send international forces to the Gaza Strip to monitor the situation.
