The main objectives of this working group include strengthening cooperation on large-scale research infrastructure, supporting initiatives that lead to the efficient utilization, development and management of large scientific projects, and creating a dynamic environment for the advancement of research infrastructure among BRICS countries.
The BRICS Working Group provides opportunities for basic and applied research that leads to solutions to the common challenges facing BRICS and the international community. The working group is also responsible for developing the digital platform BRICS Global Research Advanced Infrastructure Network (BRICS GRAIN), which provides information on the research infrastructure of more than 30 BRICS member countries in five key areas: energy, nanotechnology, biology, fundamental physics, and astronomy. Overall, the main objectives of this platform are to facilitate data sharing, enable access to laboratories, and make this process a core element of BRICS collaborative efforts.
The event is organized, managed and led by the Office of the President’s Center for Progress and Development Cooperation, which serves as the national BRICS focal point for technology and innovation, in collaboration with the Organization for International Cooperation and Development in Science, Technology and the Vice President’s Office, responsible for science, technology and the knowledge-based economy.
