Tehran – A portion of 51% of schools in the country are built with the help of benefactors, said Fateme Mohajelani, a government spokesman.
“The participation of benefactors building schools has increased significantly in recent years, so financial support has led to around 48-51% of schools being built,” Irib says, Mohajerani. I’m quoting it.
The participation of benefactors in the construction of schools demonstrates their commitment and will to improve educational opportunities and develop educational infrastructure. Their efforts could have a positive impact on education, students and the future of the country, she noted.
Officials continue, saying the current administration is focusing on expanding education infrastructure and building new schools, and replacing prefabricated schools.
“Education, education equity and elimination of educational deprivation are one of the top priorities of the current administration,” the formula emphasized.
Benefactor pledges $250 million to build a school
The benefactor has pledged to provide 200 trillion rials (approximately $250 million) to build the school in the current Iranian year that began on March 20, and CEO of the School Construction Donors Association Mohammad Reza Jafari said.
Over 50% of benefactors have contributed to building 8,000 classrooms so far this year, Irib quoted Jafari as saying.
Referring to the number of semi-finish projects built by benefactors, he said that 1,856 schools and 9,746 classrooms require more budgets to be completed.
Additionally, a total of 3,206 school projects with 1,6157 classrooms are on the agenda that will be built, which Jafari noted, requires government support.
More than 6,000 Iranian women living abroad are actively involved in the construction of schools, according to Somayeh Hashemi, a member of the International Committee of the Association of School Construction Benefactors. With the contributions of these benevolents, each school has expanded to six or seven schools, the IRNA reported.
She made the remarks on the sidelines of the first National School Construction Conference held at Torbat-E Jam, Khorasan Razavi province, on December 28, 2024.
In Iran’s 1401 (2022-2023), the benefactor allocated 46 trillion rials (approximately $57 million) to build the school, gathering the amount needed for the festival.
In 1402 (March 2023 – March 2024), its contribution almost tripled as it increased 115 trillion rials (nearly $144 million).
The fundamental goals of educational equity
President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the administration intends to transform the education system, so that students are not deprived of the right to quality education, and education fairness is not just a slogan, but a fundamental goal. He says he emphasizes something.
It is unacceptable that students in public schools in underprivileged areas have not received a good education while they have to compete with students in private schools that benefit from the best education, Peshshkian emphasized.
He made a statement in Bozinold, the capital of North Kolasan province, Bolda reported.
The president said providing vocational training along with education is one of the key areas that will transform teaching methods, through which young people develop the skills necessary for their occupations after graduating from high school.
The president said, “We will overcome all school construction challenges within a year. One of our main objectives.” It’s about transforming public schools into the best education model.”
