The National Iranian Copper Industry Company (NICICO) said its sales reached 1,330 trillion rials (equivalent to $1.92 billion in government-controlled markets) from April to January, with 32 from the previous same. It said it had increased by 32%. Press TV reported for period.
The statement said domestic sales had risen 29% year-on-year to 1,020 trillion rial in the 10 months ending late January.
It added that exports reached more than 310 trillion rial or more than $644 million, with international sales increasing 43% under RIAL terms and 956% under the dollar terms.
Nishiko described its sales performance as “success.”
The company is a subsidiary of The Imidro, a metals and mining company in the Iranian provincial.
Activities and sales have increased significantly in recent years amid the boom in the Iranian mineral sector, which many experts consider to be the result of US sanctions on Iran’s oil industry.
Since the US tightened sanctions on the country’s oil sales in 2019, exporting metals and raw minerals has been a major way to earn Iran’s hard currency.
Nishiko announced in early January that Iran’s second largest copper mine reported a triple increase in ore deposits.
The Sangan mine in northwestern Iran said a massive copper deposit was discovered after a series of “shining exploration activities” in the area.
The company is also planning to speed up huge copper mining projects in poor Cistan regions in southeastern Iran.
