The accurate and secure tracker “Sohair 1” was announced in Tehran on Thursday evening. Brigadier General Sei was attended the event by Mahadi Farahi, Deputy Director General for Industry and Research, Ministry of Defense, and Brigadier General Majid Farikli, Deputy Minister of Geographical Agency in Iran.
One of the capabilities of this system is to establish communication with the military’s permanent GNSS station.
Satellite trackers are one of the most important tools of positioning and tracking technology in the modern world, utilizing global positioning systems to determine the exact location of an object or individual. These trackers can only be connected to the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and their accuracy is within meter range.
Currently, Iran’s geographical organizations have 170 permanent GNSS stations across the country. By receiving information from these stations, trackers will be able to provide positioning within centimeters with applications in a variety of military and civilian fields, including transportation and logistics.
The accurate tracker laboratory prototype was designed and built in Iranian geographical organizations, and its industrial version was developed in collaboration with Iranian knowledge-based companies.
At the unveiling ceremony, Brigadier General Farahi said the locator was pilot-installed on 150 vehicles.
