The family of the British couple detained in Iran says they are determined “to ensure a safe return.”
It is unknown when Iranian authorities arrested Craig and Lindsay Foreman, but reports of their detention were published Thursday by Iranian state media and said they were in custody on suspicion of security-related charges.
The last post from a couple who were on motorcycle tours around the world was in early January.
“We would like to use this opportunity to deal with the dire situation regarding Craig and Lindsey Foreman, who are currently being detained in Carman, Iran,” the family said in a statement issued on their behalf of the UK Foreign Office. I’ve said that.
“This unexpected event has raised great concern for the whole family and is deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this ordeal,” the statement added.
The family said they are “actively involved with the UK government and related authorities and are committed to navigating the complexities of this issue.”
“Families are united in our determination to ensure safe benefits, and we are truly grateful for the pouring of support from our friends, family and the community.
According to Iran’s state-run IRNA News, the UK ambassador for Iran’s Hugo Shorter met with two British citizens on Wednesday at the prosecutor’s office in the state’s capital, Carman.
The IRNA said details about their case will be made public later, citing Carman’s prosecutor.
The IRNA has also published photos from a meeting showing the British ambassador of Iran, but has not shown the two faces or published their names.
“Traveling has a way of reminding us of things that are really important. On this (travel) around the world, we felt a deep sense of connection, and we never did that here in Iran.” Foreman said in his last post on Instagram on January 2nd.
“Despite the differences in culture, language and tradition, we have seen beautiful and universal. We share a love of kindness, humor, hospitality and delicious food!” she adds Ta.
