Tehran – The International Resistance Film Festival is poised to amplify the voices of those oppressed amid awkward silence from the world’s leading film festival, the festival’s secretary said.
“We condemn major international film festivals for their perceived inaction on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” he said on Saturday that he met with international media representatives at the Iranian Film Museum in Tehran. And Jalal Gafari said.
“Resistance cinema serves as the voice of people who have been oppressed worldwide,” he pointed out.
Speaking to media representatives in Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Armenia, Gafari highlighted the festival’s four-year commitment to showcasing film and resistance. He said, “The festival is recognized as the only international event dedicated to supporting the oppressed.”
“Our aim is to provide a platform for the cry of those suffering under oppression,” he continued. “In its ability as a powerful cultural tool, films can send important messages to global audiences. But sadly, global films are inhumane agendas by colonial forces. It is increasingly manipulated to advance.”
“In the past year alone, more than 50,000 innocent civilians, including women and children, have been killed in Gaza. But no international film organization has properly dealt with these horrifying events,” he said. said.
“We are proud to announce that the current edition of the festival has received over 500 international submissions focused on Gaza and that it has received a broader theme of resistance,” he said. .
He also criticized the government that uses film to distort reality, saying, “Some of the people responsible for crimes against humanity manipulate the medium and portray themselves as victims. You can hear it.”
He expressed his optimism about the future based on the principle of human dignity and said, “The world of tomorrow will undoubtedly be built on kindness and justice. We are an integral part of this noble human community. We aim to be.”
On his part, Esrafil Kariji, head of the International Committee of the Resistance Film Festival, praised media activists for their participation in the conference.
“The concept of resistance is one of the highest human values and needs to be defended within the film industry. Resistance cinema is opposed to the hegemony system, and independent media around the world can righteously relate to themselves. I’m sure it will align with the front,” he insisted.
“Today’s film industry is dominated primarily by a global hegemonic order. Resistance Cinema is committed to dismantling this barrier,” he said.
