In a radio interview with Fox News, the US president said that Jordan and Egypt said they had opposed his plan to take over Gaza and drive away the Palestinians.
“The way to do that is my plan, and I think it’s a plan that really works,” Trump said.
“But I’m not forcing it, I’m just going to sit down and recommend it.
“And the US will own the site, no Hamas, there’s development, and we’ll do it again with a clean plate.”
As we have reported all day, several Arab leaders met in the early days of Saudi Arabia to discuss a counter-proposition to Trump’s push for “taking over.”
Speaking to Al Jazeera in Cairo, former Egyptian deputy minister, Baiumi, Trump said the Middle East had appeared, saying he had “inexperienced in international law.”
“He sometimes tries to (float) a new balloon to see the reaction,” he said.
“This is something that even the closest allies of (US), Germany and France rejected. There is no logic to it… we don’t ask Palestinians to leave our country,” Baiumi said.
