Al Jazeera cited a report from Fox News. This led to a senior Pentagon official saying that the Iemeni Ansarra forces fired a surface-to-air missile on a US F-16 fighter jet on February 19th.
The incident occurred while American fighter jets flew through the Red Sea off the Yemen coast, but the missiles fired did not hit their targets, according to the report.
Pentagon officials also announced on the same day that Ansarra had fired another missile with an American MQ-9 drone.
Fox News quoted a senior Pentagon official saying that the fire of these missiles by the Hoosys is a major escalation of the military conflict.
The network added that current consultations are underway at the highest level of the US military on the best strategy to address Houthis.
Fox added that there is a disagreement about whether to use traditional counterterrorism approaches or launch a constant attack on Ansarlah.
The network added that one option discussed at these meetings n is to adopt a defensive approach with a focus on the infrastructure targets of the Yemeni ani-ansarullah government.
