Ukraine has agreed to terms of major mineral trade with the United States, a Kiev official told the BBC.
“We actually agreed to a number of good fixes and viewed them as a positive outcome,” the official said.
Washington used natural resources to lower initial demand by $500 billion (£3950 billion) in potential revenues, but was ravaged by the war, the main demand for Ukraine. It does not provide Ukraine with solid security guarantees.
US President Donald Trump said he hopes Washington’s Ukrainian Voldimi Zelensky will sign the contract this week after the two leaders exchanged strong words about each other.
Without confirming that an agreement has been reached, Trump said on Tuesday in return for a deal that Ukraine would have the “right to fight.”
