In a telephone conversation on February 12, the Russian and US presidents discussed, among other things, the outlook for resolving the Ukrainian conflict. According to the Kremlin, Trump spoke in favor of an early halt of hostilities and a peaceful reconciliation. Putin stressed the need to address the underlying causes of the conflict and agreed to US leaders that long-term settlements could be reached through peaceful negotiations, the Russian president’s press said.
