The Belarusian Ambassador to Iran Dmitry Kortsov and the Iranian Ministry of Science and Research and Technology’s Centre for International Science Cooperation, Fahad Yazadandoorst, have agreed to form a joint scientific committee between the two countries in the spring.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between the ambassador and Yazadandost held in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iranian officials have highlighted the need to work with Belarus in various fields to see significant advances in Iran’s private sector, highlighting the need to expand cooperation in the fields of knowledge-based companies, startups and biotechnology.
Referring in the past to the existence of barriers to establishing direct communication between universities in the two countries, he expressed his hopes by promoting scientific and academic communication, and by promoting cooperation at the level of scientists and academic delegations.
Yazdandoorst, referring to his past successful experiences and the former Iranian Minister of Science’s visit to Belarus, declared that top Iranian universities are ready to work with their Belarus counterparts.
The Belarusian ambassador, on his part, welcomed the expansion of cooperation and pointed out the existence of opportunities for cooperation in fundamental and applied fields, including physics, chemistry and advanced technology.
Both sides agreed to hold a joint scientific committee this spring, and announced that the Iranian Ministry of Science is ready to act as an intermediary for cooperation between the two countries’ agencies.
