“We are taking part in international standards by raising the issue of moving to joint standards based on the Institute of Oil and Gas Technology,” he said following the meeting of the Russian-Iraq Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economics and Science and Technology Cooperation.
Previous Russian companies have considered Iraq’s equipment supply bids, but said their documents require standardisation compliance from the American Petroleum Institute, and that Russia automatically robbed the possibility due to sanctions.
“We cannot bid for this, but there are many equipment, but we can enter not only oil production and refining, but also electrical equipment,” Tsivilov said.
Russia has also managed to negotiate the issue with Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, he added.
“This is a good opportunity to move to standards that are closer to American standards, but it’s a much broader opportunity to allow us to participate in bidding,” the minister emphasized.
