Tehran and this year’s Resistance International Film Festival marked the first official presence of artificial intelligence in film production, highlighting the need to overcome sanctions and develop local infrastructure to maximize the benefits of the technology, the festival’s secretary said.
According to Mohammad Ali Shojaei Fard, artificial intelligence can be a great opportunity for film productions centered around resistance.
For the first time this year, a section specialising in artificial intelligence was specifically included at the festival. He said the Resistance Festival is always a platform for displaying different types of filmmaking, including documentaries, short films and feature films focusing on resistance themes.
He further pointed to the role of the technology in the future of resistance films, saying that the process of using artificial intelligence in resistance media production began several years ago and has now reached a wider stage. He predicted that he would soon witness the production of a feature film with the help of this technology.
Shojaei Fard highlighted the need to support the technology’s infrastructure, adding that two important steps are needed to overcome the challenges. The first is the development of technology infrastructure by officials and governing bodies, and secondly, the active efforts of field experts to localize technology and reduce reliance on foreign tools. In this way, artificial intelligence can be used as a strategic tool in the soft warfare realm.
The 18th International Resistance Film Festival is an important platform for the promotion and dissemination of films that embody the spirit of resistance to injustice, oppression and inequality. It aims to respect the principle of resistance and promote freedom of thinking and expression.
The Revolution and Sacred Defense Film Association and the Revayat Foundation host the International Film Festival of Resistance every year.
