In a major counterterrorism operation on Wednesday, Iran’s intelligence agency dismantled Takfiri’s terrorist network and seized a large number of weapons and explosives in the southeastern province.
“Through the history of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic, the enemy has always tried to carry out and plot instigation (against the country). Today, we witness that if an unrestraining act occurs, these actions will be carried out by import agents that do not belong to this people or to this region,” Khatib said on Friday when he visited the southeastern province.
He highlighted the importance of public vigilance and unity in the face of hostile plots, saying, “While the enemy exploits every opportunity to create inconsistency and unrest, the people of Iran have always been in recognition and unity of these plots.
Iran’s Intelligence Minister said security and peace in the southeastern provinces is of paramount importance and calls for greater security through cooperation with public and local governments, but would not allow the enemy to use the area as a base to cause anxiety.
“The Intelligence Ministry of Educators is thoroughly monitoring and countering unstable actions. We cannot escape efforts to maintain the security of the country and peace of the people,” he added. “We must maintain the security of the country through cooperation and solidarity, and ensure that our enemy can achieve ominous goals.”
Khatib also highly praised the people and officials of Sistan and Baluchestan provinces for playing an important role in maintaining the security and quiet of the country.
Wednesday’s counter-terrorism operations discovered four warehouses that were used to hide weapons and explosive materials belonging to the terrorist group.
Local media reports say intelligence reports and security guards confiscated 226 light weapons, including heavy machine guns such as pistols, Kalashniko Flyfuls and Golinov.
Sistan and Balchestan, which border Pakistan, have witnessed several terrorist attacks targeting both civilians and security forces over the past few years.
Terrorist groups carrying out attacks on Iran’s interests in the southeastern and southwest parts of the country are believed to be linked to foreign intelligence reporting agencies.
