Tehran – The Iranian and Qatar Culture Ministers met during Iranian Culture Week in Doha to discuss aspects of cultural cooperation between the two countries and how to develop them.
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic leadership met with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad al Thani, who had sought Abbas Salehi, and both of them emphasized the expansion of cultural cooperation and the formation of committees to promote these cooperation.
Referring to the deep cultural commonality between Iran and Qatar, Salehi described the friendly relations between the two countries as a valuable opportunity for joint cultural cooperation.
He pointed to the cultural exchange agreement signed before the Iranian-Qatar president, saying that holding Iranian Culture Week in Qatar is an important step in implementing the agreement.
The Iranian Minister of Culture proposed the formation of a collaborative working group that constitutes the Iranian Embassy, Cultural Attachee and Qatar Ministry of Culture to identify and implement cultural and artistic initiatives, particularly in the field of books, and ensured completion before Qatar’s Culture Week in Iran.
Qatar Culture Minister expressed his gratitude for the insightful perspective of his Iranian counterparts, describing him as an ethical and academic figure, and expressing his satisfaction with the cultural cooperation between the two countries.
He mentioned previous efforts in cultural interaction and presented preparations for a collection of Qatari books that include Persian translations along with Arabic poems.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad al Thani also emphasized that he instructed his lieutenant to seriously follow up on cultural cooperation with Iran, as he considers Iran’s culture rich and valuable.
Additionally, he suggested that Iranian artists taking part in Iran’s Culture Week also participate in one of Qatar’s upcoming cultural programs and demonstrate respect and commitment to Qatar’s Iranian culture and art.
He said the formation of a joint working group will help determine the cultural interests of Qatari people and lead to more targeted cultural activities.
Qatar Culture Minister also announced the launch of the award focused on ethics, saying it will be designed based on the teachings of the Qur’an and proverbs of Islamic prophets and will be held in cooperation with UNESCO. He invited Iranian artists to participate in the event, institutionalizing ethical culture in society and shaping people’s lifestyles regarding moral values.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad al Thani highlighted the role of Iran’s Cultural Week in creating opportunities for the cultural economy. “This event will introduce Katalis to Iran’s cultural and artistic abilities, encourage the purchase of Iranian art products, and invite Iranian artists to hold training courses in Qatar.”
He also highlighted the importance of social media in cultural interactions, suggesting that online engagement between Iranian and Qatari users should be strengthened on a variety of occasions, including the Iranian and Qatari cultural era.
In response, Seyyed Abbas Salehi highlighted the importance of Persian language in cultural relations, proposed joint cooperation in Persian language education, and saw it as a valuable opportunity to deepen interaction between the two countries.
He also declared that he was ready to cooperate in Iran’s cultural fields, particularly areas of interest to the Qatari people and the Katari government. “When we try to open a new chapter in Iran-Qatar’s relationship, the gateway takes place through cultural and economic interactions,” he pointed out.
Qatar’s Iranian Culture Week is currently underway at UMM Saral’s permanent Darbu al-Saai headquarters. Qatar’s Ministry of Culture is within the framework of the Cultural Event Programme, which is included in annual activities with sisters and friends, to strengthen cultural relations and cultural diplomacy and introduce the country’s culture.
Through its activities, Iranian Culture Week presents a wide range of Iranian Islamic art and civilization, offering several Iranian artists the opportunity to show the various artists to the public, providing the public with a unique cultural experience and an opportunity to interact with a rich Iranian heritage.
The event will include many hand ICRAFTs as well as exhibitions of art and traditional crafts, as well as exhibitions of works by artists from various artists and creative fields, including Persian calligraphy, gold, fashion, clothing, carpets, paintings, embroidery, as well as a group of daily artistic and theatrical performances.
It aims to introduce the various Iranian cultures to the public, promote intercultural dialogue, encourage cultural and artistic communication between creators of different countries, and emphasize local and international cultural and artistic heritage.
