The pro-Palestinian protest at Bernard University in New York City on Wednesday continued until Thursday, with at least one person being taken to police custody.
Wednesday’s protest was a sit-in with a student claiming to reverse the expulsion of two students who opposed Israeli study classes, New Arab reported.
The rally continued into the late evening, with dozens of students refusing to leave until their requests were met, including the asylum of students who were punished for Palestinian parental activities (in addition to those exiled).
On Thursday, students took the demonstrations to the streets and marched from Bernard to City College. Some onlookers described the protesters as offensive, while others viewed them as peaceful and unjust targets.
Student protesters say the fear of the university administration losing funds has affected their crackdown. In fact, some prominent Republicans are seeking Bernard and Columbia’s refunds for what is considered an inadequate response to the demonstrations.
