Shadid also said Palestinians should not accept restrictions from the Israeli regime and must assert historical and religious rights in the mosque, Palestinian Shev News Agency reported.
All residents of Al-Quds City in 1948, as well as those in the West Bank, who have access to the mosque, must protect it, he said.
Hamas officials added that restrictions imposed by the occupying party and its illegal settlement project cannot cut ties between the sacred mosque and its legitimate owner. Instead, such a move strengthens the Palestinians’ resolve to protect the site and resist the Jewish programme.
According to Anadolu News Agency, Israeli public broadcaster Kang has reported that it plans to deploy 3,000 soldiers at checkpoints leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan to prevent recently released Palestinian prisoners from entering the area around the sacred site.
The Israeli regime has a long history of restricting access to Palestinian mosques, even during Ramadan, where it faces resistance from oppressed countries.
