These projects take into consideration the availability of local planning, existing infrastructure and raw materials and water resources for investment, Hassan Abbasadeh said.
He praised the call on Saturday, making a statement at a ceremony introducing the company’s upcoming director of downstream industrial development.
He blessed attendees at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and highlighted the importance of the downstream industry.
Abbaszadeh noted that export-oriented strategies and construction of mega-scale petrochemical plants are prioritized in industry development plans. He pointed out that while Iran mainly produces raw and semi-finished products, target exporters often convert these into final products, creating added value outside of Iran.
“We must use all the capabilities available to complete the value chain,” Abbasadeh said. “Converting semi-finished products into final products can significantly increase the added structural and technical value.”
The CEO of NPC emphasized that reducing raw material sales is an important strategy for the petrochemical industry. He called for Downstream Industrial Development Management to work closely with other departments to advance complementary industries, complete the value chain and produce the final product.
Abbaszadeh added that it is important to incorporate feedback from the downstream petrochemical industry into developmental plans and to meet production and supply needs.
Regarding mega-scale plants operating under export strategies, he noted that some complexes do not have the flexibility to adjust product grades to meet the needs of downstream industries. He also highlighted the challenges associated with product grade changes.
Abbaszadeh highlighted the importance of cohesive collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade and the NPC’s Ministry of Downstream Industry Management. He said such cooperation will help address challenges, meet needs and ensure sustainable production in petrochemical units.
“Cooperation with the Industry Department needs to expand across all aspects to resolve downstream industry problems through cooperation and interaction,” he said. “Fortunately, the foundations of this collaboration have been raised through recent meetings with ministries and agencies, and are ready to strengthen cooperation to grow and raise the petrochemical industry.”
Abbaszadeh also tackles competitive demand for certain chemical and polymer products, with some products facing fierce competition, but most have no problems. He expressed confidence that both short-term and long-term measures could solve existing challenges.
The NPC CEO reaffirmed the company’s role as a representative of the government and supported all petrochemical industry stakeholders.
“We support the petrochemical complex and the downstream industry, and there is no conflict between any sector,” he said.
