Somali national television reported on Sunday that more than 40 Al-Shabaab fighter jets have been eliminated in successful businesses.
A statement from the Somali military confirmed that the mission, which was supported by international partners, took place in the Bya Kedde region of Hirshabel province.
The National Army, along with its international allies and vigilant communities, is continuing its efforts to eliminate the threat of terrorists, the Army said on social media platform X.
Al Shabaab was founded in Somalia in 2004. By 2010, the group had controlled a vast territory, but had to withdraw from Mogadishu in the summer of 2011 and launch a guerrilla war with the country’s government and its allies. In February 2012, Al-Shabaab leaders announced their participation in al-Qaeda.
Somalia has been plagued by anxiety for years, but the main threat comes from al-Shabaab and Dash/ISIL terrorist groups.
