Tehran – Iranian ambassador to Uzbekistan Fariddin Nasriev recently visited Alborz province, near Tehran.
During his visit, he met with Regional Tourism Director Nader Zeinali to discuss strategies to expand bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.
Additionally, several economic staff, business leaders and tourism stakeholders attended meetings held in the Alborz Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture on Monday, Irna reported.
During the meeting, Zeinali highlighted the deep cultural links between Iran and Uzbekistan, highlighting tourism as a bridge to promote stronger people-to-people connections and boost the economy of both countries. “Tourism as a driving force for development can have economic, social, political and cultural influences and serve as a foundation for establishing shared markets and cultural exchanges,” he said.
Zeinalli further highlighted the rich tourism potential of the province of Alborz, pointing out the diverse appeal of cultural heritage, natural and industrial tourism. He expressed his preparedness to host a joint tour between Iran and Uzbekistan, noting that Ozbaki’s historic location, dating back to the median era, could serve as an important destination for cultural tourism and international visitors.
On his part, Ambassador Nasliv welcomed the expansion of tourism ties with the Alborz province, highlighting the existing infrastructure for tourism cooperation. He said that two flights per week are run between Tehran and Tashkent via Zagros Air and Qeshm Air, promoting travel between the two countries.
Nasriyev also announced the launch of Uzbekistan’s e-visa system, allowing travelers to obtain $20 e-Visa within three days, eliminating the need for in-person visits to embassies and consulates.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding tourism cooperation, developing joint tours and strengthening cultural and economic ties between Alborz and Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of January, Ambassador Nasliyev met with Iran’s Minister of Tourism Reza Salehi Amiri to discuss ways that focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of tourism, cultural heritage and handicrafts. During the meeting, Salehi Amiri mentioned a recent meeting with Uzbekistan’s deputy prime minister, Aziz Abdukakimov.
