Comments were made through an official statement by Kim Yeon Jung, sister of DPRK leader Kim Jong-un. The statement was released on Tuesday by the state-run Korea Central News Agency (KCNA).
“As soon as a new administration emerges this year, the US will strengthen its political and military provocations against the DPRK and “advance” the hostile policies of previous administrations,” her statement read.
She accused President Donald Trump of strengthening political and military provocations against her country.
Kim added that the new US administration is pushing forward with hostile policies from its predecessors against Pyongyang.
She emphasized that Washington has strengthened its vicious conflict with Pyongyang this month with Carl Vinson’s aircraft carrier’s visit to Busan.
USS Carl Vinson, the flagship of the Career Strike Group, arrived in Busan on Sunday, the US Navy said in a statement.
“A visit to Busan exemplifies the US commitment to the region and further strengthens relations with ROK leaders and local residents,” the US Navy said using the acronym for the official South name.
South Korea’s joint Freedom Shield military exercises are scheduled to begin this month.
Repeated joint military training by South Korea and the US forced the North to continue developing nuclear and missile technologies.
Pyongyang views joint South Korea-US military training as a rehearsal of invasion.
Relations between the two South Koreas are at the lowest point in years, with the North firing gusts of ballistic missiles last year in protest as a joint military operation by the US and South Korea.
Last week, North Korea completed testing of its strategic cruise missiles in the yellow sea.
