Tehran – The Tehran Symphony Orchestra will hold its final winter concert at Vadat Hall in Tehran on March 9th.
The concert, entitled “Classic Songs,” will feature Nasir Heidarian as the guest conductor. Orchestras are to perform famous classic Iranian and foreign works, Irna reported.
The repertoire includes works by German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven and “Classic Songs” by Iranian musician and composer Manijafarzadeh.
Mani Jafarzadeh, 46, is an Iranian musician, composer, writer and critic. Among his musical instructors are Farhad Fakreddini, Shahin Farhatt and Ahmad Payman. He also studied art history under Aydin Aghdashloo and attended a poetry and fiction workshop led by Reza Baraheni.
Jafarzadeh writes a paper on the philosophy of art and aesthetics, and writes “A commentary on contemporary hearing culture – an introduction to the major trends in Iranian music from the Constitutional Era to the Islamic Revolution and its comparative analysis.”
Founded in 1933, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra is Iran’s oldest and largest symphony orchestra. For years, well-known musicians such as Rubik Gregorian, Morteza Hannane, Heymo Tauber, Heshmato Sanjali and Farhad Meshkat took over as conductors of the orchestra.
