The Arab Summit in Cairo began with a speech by Abdel Fatta El Sisi of Egypt.
“Egypt is ready to train the Palestinian authorities’ security forces to gain security in Gaza,” he added.
He continued to say his country will hold a major Gaza reconstruction conference in Cairo next month.
According to SISI, peace cannot be achieved unless an independent Palestinian state is established.
After him, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the summit that “we must respect the integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon and Syria’s territorial integrity.”
“Unrwa plays an important role in providing humanitarian relief to displaced Palestinians,” he added.
Guterres also said that Israel, as an occupation regime of Palestinian territory, must respect international humanitarian law.
In his speech at the summit, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility to maintain peace and security in the world.
