Yemeni Army spokesman Brigadier General Yahiya Sali has announced the downing of the American MQ-9 drone in the Al Hodeida area, Al Mayaden reported.
Since November 2023, YAF has defeated 15 American-made MQ-9 drones. Each drone costs over $30 million.
The last drone to fire down Yemen came on January 1, 2025. YAF announced that it successfully fired down an American MQ-9 drone with locally made local missiles while running a hostile mission in the Malibu sky.
In a statement, Surrey confirmed that the drone is the second type successfully collapsed by Yemen’s air defense in 72 hours, and the 14th drone since the launch of the Gaza Strip and the support front in the defense of the Palestinians.
Sally emphasized that the operation was “a victory for the suffering of the Palestinians and their fighters, and as part of a response to the American and British attacks on Yemen.”
He further reiterates that the Yemeni army “continues to be committed to confronting all enemy attempts that undermine Yemen’s sovereignty,” and that they will continue to support Gaza until the attacks on it stop and the siege is lifted.
