In 2022, at the Kyrgyz Republic’s initiative, the UN General Assembly declared March 5th as the International Day of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.
The importance of this resolution is to raise global awareness of the risks posed to humanity through weapons of mass destruction and illegal attempts to multiply them in violation of international legal norms.
We believe that education is an underrated tool in efforts to build peace and promote the disarmament process. Educated and responsible citizens are important ally and reliable foundations for the diplomacy of peace.
The Kyrgyz Republic remains immovable in its commitment to preventing a surge in peace, non-violence and weapons of mass destruction, as one of the treaty’s initiators and depositors in the nuclear-weaponless zone of Central Asia.
We must continue our collective efforts to educate existing security architectures in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation and efforts made by UN Member States in the name of peace that are firmly adhered to the principles engraved in the Charter of International Law.
