Ali Akbar Velayati warned that certain Turkish officials must understand that repeating the unfounded interventionist claims is not useful in the interests of the country’s bilateral relations.
He argued that the Islamic Republic would not allow any country to undermine the ties of deep and historic regions through irresponsible statements, Presstv reported.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always adhered to the policy of mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. We hope that Turkish authorities will maintain their diplomatic ornament and refrain from unfounded accusations,” he emphasized.
The senior adviser emphasized that Iran was a powerful country with ancient civilizations and had consistently worked to promote regional security and cooperation.
Officials further emphasized the local status of the Islamic Republic and warned that turkeys do not misjudge the state’s position and strength in the region.
“If you believe that some Turkey figures can undermine Iran’s position in the region by reflecting false stances influenced by foreign forces, they are seriously wrong,” he said.
“History proves that Iran remains immovable in its principles and responds appropriately to all rudeness.”
Meanwhile, he pointed out that Iran and Turkey enjoy geographical proximity and common interests, and that it is essential for Turkish officials to avoid statements that could strain the country’s relations.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is always open to dialogue and interaction, but in the face of unfounded rhetoric, it is not silenced,” he added.
The statement was made in an interview with Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV Network a few days after Turkey’s top diplomat Hakan Fidan, who called for changes to Iran’s regional policy, claiming that the policy was “very dangerous.”
“I don’t think that if (Iran) policy continues like this, it will be the right policy. If supporting groups in other countries are trying to cause anxiety in third countries, other countries can also get in the way by supporting their own groups,” he said.
Belayati, who dealt with the Syrian situation, said the future of the Arab nations remains uncertain, adding that it indicates that efforts to divide it have already begun.
“The various groups, including Kurds, Alawi (Takfili terrorist group), Dash and (Heiat) Taharil al-Sham (extremist group), each claims compared to different parts of the country. The chances of a civil war remain high,” he warned.
He also pointed to the presence of Syria, particularly the Israeli regime and the US foreign troops, and said he would increase the risk of the country’s division.
“The Israeli Foreign Minister recently met with EU officials and publicly stated that Syria should be divided along ethnic and sectarian boundaries. This will clarify their agenda and the Syrian people must remain vigilant.”
But at the same time, he praised the resilience of the Syrian people, noting that they had historically supported the Palestinian cause.
Officials cited many instances of Syrians making significant sacrifices for the Palestinians, as well as many of the causes of Israeli occupation and liberation from attacks, saying, “Given this legacy, Syrians will ultimately reclaim the country from foreign plots.”
