Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araguchi reaffirms Tehran’s rejection of the two states’ solutions as a means to secure Palestinian rights, highlighting his unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
Speaking at an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of Islamic Cooperative Organizations (OIC) convened to deal with Israeli attacks and crimes against Palestinians in Jeddah, Aragut on Friday, highlighted Iran’s solid stance on Palestine and described Telan’s support as Telan’s support.
“The uncompromising support of the government and people of Iran’s Islamic Republic to the Palestinian cause is controversial and our unwavering commitment will not fade under any circumstances,” he said.
He also rejected the “two state solution” and instead proposed “one democratic state” as the only viable solution.
“In honor of the views of several brothers on the two state solutions, the Islamic Republic of Iran maintains the view that this solution will not lead to the realization of Palestinian rights,” Aragut said.
He also highlighted Iran’s position in favour of a single democratic state representing all former residents of Palestine and distanced Tehran from reference to the two-state framework of the conference.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also highlighted the “unspeakable pain and suffering” that the people of Gaza endured during the 16 months of the Israeli Genocide War.
“The situation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza Strip, is a deep concern. This crisis is not only a humanitarian disaster, but also a serious injustice to a country that has been systematically deprived of its fundamental rights and human dignity for over 70 years, and has been subject to ruthless attacks and occupation,” he noted.
Top diplomats also denounced the “unshakable unconditional support” of the United States and its Western Israeli allies in the war with Gaza.
Citing Washington’s military, financial and diplomatic support in Tel Aviv, Aragut argued that Gaza’s development clearly demonstrates our accomplices in the crimes committed by the Israeli regime.
“The United States once again chose to turn a blind eye to the root cause of the crisis, prioritizing its strategic alliance with the Israeli regime over the fundamental principles of justice and human rights,” he said.
He further stated that Israel, encouraged by this unwavering support, is carrying out “an unimaginable abusive atrocities that present all major international crimes, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, racism, genocide and other major international crimes.”
However, he noted that despite the war crimes committed in Gaza, the Tel Aviv regime continues to circumvent accountability and enjoys immunity for blatant violations of international law.
Araguchi also strongly rejected the US administration’s bid “to force the relocation of Gaza’s population,” calling it a “clear violation of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention.”
He emphasized that attempts to change “the demographic and cultural structure of occupied Palestine” were unacceptable and opposed to the principles of justice and international law.
“Iran also expresses deep concern about the political and humanitarian implications of such actions towards the region and the world. It merely imbues the injury of the current generation, while ensuring constant sadness for future generations,” he warned.
Elsewhere in his speech, Iranian diplomats reaffirmed the Palestinians’ “inherent” rights to protect themselves from Israeli occupation and attacks.
He emphasized that “this right is defined in international law and does not require the recognition of external forces.”
He criticized the West for justifying Israeli crimes under the pretext of “self-defense,” while simultaneously denying the same rights of Palestinian resistance groups.
Araguchi rejected these “misleading stories” and urged the international community to recognize Palestinian resistance groups (established to fight occupation, apartheid and attackers) as legal stakeholders under international law.
Iranian diplomats also called for “group sanctions against Israel” and all businesses and organizations that directly or indirectly support and maintain Israeli occupation and its crimes.
He urged at least the OIC member states to implement measures such as how to pressure the Zionist regime to stop crimes against the people of Gaza and other countries in the region.
Emphasizing Israel’s nearly week-long humanitarian assistance locking into Gaza, Araguchi highlighted the urgency to provide relief to alleviate Palestinian suffering.
He proposed that the effort would involve the creation of an OIC-led international campaign to fund the reconstruction of besieged strip homes, hospitals and essential infrastructure.
He also called for the expulsion of Israel from the United Nations, citing repeated violations of the UN Charter, designation of the UN Secretary-General as Persona Non Grata, obstructing UNRWA’s humanitarian operations, and obstacles to hundreds of UN staff in Palestinian countries.
Araguchi proposed the establishment of an international day of memory for the victims of Gaza, serving as a lasting tribute to the suffering that the people of Gaza endured, ensuring that Israel’s fight against crime would be unforgettable.
