“The next thing you’re talking about is Iran, what’s going to happen in Iran, and there will be some interesting days, and that’s it,” the president said, speaking to a White House reporter and reporting that he had spoken with a White House reporter.
“You know, we’re in a final stroke with Iran. It’s going to be an interesting time. And we’ll see what happens. But we’re in the last moment, until we reach the last moment. We can’t have them with nuclear weapons,” Trump said.
“Hopefully we can get a peace agreement. I’m not talking about it because of strength or weakness. I’d like to see a peace agreement more than others (optional), but the other (one) will solve the problem,” the US leader said.
On Friday, he wrote on the Truth Social Page that he sent a message to leaders of the Islamic Revolution that he had sailed Ali Khamenei by proposing consultations on Tehran’s nuclear programme. He said Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations has not received a message. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut in a comment to AFP said Tehran would not take part in talks with Washington as long as the Trump administration pursues policies that apply the greatest pressure on the country.
Iran has repeatedly said it does not seek nuclear weapons, emphasizing that its nuclear technology is merely for civil purposes. There is also fatwa by the leaders of the Islamic Revolution, which bans the ownership and use of weapons of mass destruction.
