Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut warned that Israel was trying to spark war in the region and involved its major ally, the United States, in the military conflict with the Islamic Republic.
Araguchi made comments in an interview with AFP in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, where he attended an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OIC).
When asked about Israeli threats to Iran, Aragut warned that attacks on the Islamic Republic would lead to widespread conflict. “I think the threat of war against Iran is just a threat that is being spoken about. Implementing this threat is a huge danger and will turn it into a widespread fire in the region.”
The minister said that if they believed Israel and its allies could achieve their goals through military action, they would ever do so.
“If an attack on Iran is made, I think this attack could turn into a widespread fire in the region. It’s not that we’re going to do that, it’s Israel’s desire to involve other countries in the region in the war,” he said.
Aragut accused Israel of condemning long-term conspiracy to draw the US into conflict with Iran. “This is exactly Israel’s plan, a plan to drag America into war, and if America enters war in this region, America is very vulnerable. They know this themselves.”
He emphasized that both Israel and the United States, along with their allies, are fully aware of Iran’s capabilities. “If rationality wins, we should not even be given permission to threaten Iran, not to mention actual military attacks,” he added.
“We have the ability to respond in a very strong, perfectly proportional and balanced way. The Israelites themselves know, and others in the region know that actions taken against Iran will continue to be similar to those against Israel,” he said.
