President Donald Trump’s counter-proposed to take over Gaza and replace its residents “shows a realistic path to rebuilding Gaza and, if promised, demonstrates a rapid and sustainable improvement in the catastrophic conditions of living for Palestinians living in Gaza.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, foreign ministers from the Muslim country supported the plan and rejected Trump’s call to empty the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The foreign minister met in the Saudi city of Jeddah and addressed the situation in Gaza when a seven-week-old ceasefire was questionable for a special session by Islamic cooperation organisations.
In a statement released on Saturday, the rally threw its support behind plans to rebuild Gaza, proposed by Egypt and supported by Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The OIC Group is 57 countries with primarily Muslim populations.
Without making any particular mention of Trump, the minister said he rejected “a plan aimed at displacement of Palestinians, either individually or collectively (…) as ethnic cleansing, serious violations of international law, or as crimes against humanity.” They also denounced the “starved policy,” which they said aimed at urging Palestinians to leave.
