French President Emmanuel Macron called for a surge in defence spending and proposed expanding France’s nuclear deterrent to European partners accordingly.
On Tuesday, France will hold a meeting with the Parliamentary Speaker, ready to provide Ukrainian military support after a peace deal that will end the war with Russia, a source close to Macron said.
In a speech aired Wednesday evening, Macron confirmed that he will receive the head of the European army next week. It has not been announced which countries will be represented in these lectures.
The aim is to discuss the possibility of Ukraine’s European military deployment, if a peace agreement is signed, and to ensure “respect” the peace agreement.
