The project aims to maintain and maintain gas production from the field.
Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) CEO Touraj Dehghani said fifth place was completed on the SPD12B platform in phase 12 at South Pars gas field and connected to the platform’s existing processing facilities. This marks the first well of a 35-well infill drilling project in a shared field and enters production.
Dehghani pointed out that the wells have daily production capacity of over 2 million cubic meters of rich gas. This initiative is part of an effort to offset the depletion of natural reservoirs with the SPD12B platform and return the platform’s gas production to its initial design capabilities.
The CEO highlighted that South Pars Field’s 35-well infill drilling project is being carried out in four work packages. After months of continuous efforts by experts from the Pars Oil and Gas Company and Petroiran Development Company/International Drilling Company (DCI), drilling and completion of the well 5 on the SPD12B platform was done along with connections to the production platform. This work was carried out under the second package of Integrated Engineering, Procurement and Drilling (EPD) contracts using DCI-2 offshore drilling rigs.
The Infill Excavation Project is implemented on 17 gas platforms in Southpursfield. Once fully completed and operational, the project is expected to increase the field’s daily gas production capacity by 36 million cubic meters.
The contract for the 35-well infill drilling project at South Pars was signed in November 2023. The operational phase of the project began on July 9, 2024 on the SPD12B platform in Southpur’s Phase 12. After about 8 months of drilling, the first well of the project was successfully completed and came online.
