TEHRAN – Secretary-General of Hezbollah Sheikh Naim Qassem has updated his call to revive suspended flights between Iran and Lebanon, explaining the move is essential to strengthening bilateral relations.
In an interview with Almanor TV in Lebanon on Sunday, Qassem said:
The suspension imposed in February comes after Israeli forces claimed that flights were being used to transport supplies to Hezbollah. The report shows that the US has put pressure on Lebanon to extend the ban.
Analysts argue that the suspension is designed to isolate Hezbollah and limit Iran’s involvement in the funeral of Iranian Hassan Nasrara and his agent, Saeed Hashim Safididdin.
The newly appointed Lebanese authorities later did not clarify how such sanctions (targeting Iran) would apply to Lebanon, although the cancellations were later attributed to “European sanctions.”
Elsewhere in his interview, Qassem highlighted the symbolic importance of Iranian solidarity during the funeral of Martyrs and Safi Ardin, where tens of thousands of people were against the border.
“Even if the roads were blocked, the Iranians poured to honor our martyrs,” he said.
Furthermore, the Lebanese leader has issued a sharp warning to the US and Israel, saying, “Military adventurism against Iran will unleash catastrophic consequences across the region.
Senior Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagheharibav and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut, led the delegation to the ceremony, strengthening Lebanon’s resistance and Tehran’s “unbreakable bonds.”
Following Martyrs Nasrallah and Safi Al-Din’s late funeral participation, they held a meeting with Sheikh Qassem.
