The UN Security Council will meet on Wednesday behind closed doors where Iran is allegedly suspected of expanding stocks of uranium, close to arms-grade, diplomats said Monday.
The meeting was requested by six of the Council’s 15 members (France, Greece, Panama, South Korea, UK and the US).
They also hope that Parliament will discuss Iran’s obligation to provide the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog.
Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the planned meeting.
Iran has repeatedly said it does not seek nuclear weapons, emphasizing that its nuclear technology is merely for civil purposes. There is also fatwa by the leaders of the Islamic Revolution, which bans the ownership and use of weapons of mass destruction.
