Iran’s foreign minister, special minister of Syrian affairs, Mohammad Reza Rauf Shibani, said the region hopes that the Syrian interim government will halt the violence and prosecute the perpetrators behind the country’s recent atrocities.
“The intensity and massive magnitude of the atrocities against innocent people in Syria’s coastal regions is shocking. We hope that Almighty God will give patience in this tragedy,” he wrote in a post in X.
“The violent conduct and murder of Syrian minority groups against innocent people is deplorable and the perpetrators of such crimes must be held accountable. Local citizens and global public opinion hope that the Syrian interim government will take serious and effective action to end the violence and introduce court orchestrators and perpetrators.”
He continued, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported Syria’s stability, tranquility, territorial integrity and the protection of the safety and livelihoods of Syrian people from all segments and diverse groups that make up the country’s society.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes Syrian uncertainty and instability will serve the interests of the Zionist regime, allowing terrorists and extremist groups to exploit the situation and threaten the peace and stability of the region,” the Iranian diplomat concluded.
The so-called Syrian War Monitor says extremists alongside the Syrian ruling HTS regime have killed nearly 1,000 civilians in a series of recent “genocides” in the Arab state’s western coastal regions.
