General Aziz Nasirzadeh, the visiting commander of the Iranian Minister of Defense, met with the Minister of Defense, Victor Krenin, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, in Minsk on Wednesday, and held discussions.
During the meeting, both sides explored the path of expanding military and defence cooperation between Iran and Belarus, highlighting the strengthening of regional peace and stability, as well as the development of defence diplomacy.
Furthermore, Iran and Belorsi’s defense ministers exchanged their views on deepening bilateral relations.
Nasirzadeh pointed to the importance of defence cooperation, particularly by leveraging the capabilities of international organizations, particularly the capabilities of both countries in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in combating common threats and fighting unilateral threats, considering the signing of this document as an effective step to strengthening the defence and security interaction between Tehran and Minsk.
Belarus’ defense minister on his part emphasized the need for continued defence cooperation between the two countries in line with ensuring sustainable security.
Signing the memorandum between Iran and Belarus in various fields reflects the deepening of strategic ties between the two countries in the defense sector, Gen. Victor Krenin added.
Along with a defence delegation, Nasirzadeh arrived in Belarus late Tuesday to discuss issues of bilateral relations and mutual interest.
Upon arriving at Minsk airport, Iran’s defense minister received a high reception from senior officials in the host country.
