Medical sources say at least 24 people were killed in Israeli air raids since dawn on Wednesday, 20 of them lost their lives in the northern part of the Strip.
According to Press TV, Mahmoud Bassar, a spokesman for Gaza’s civil defense agency, said 11 casualties, including women and children, died in airstrikes and sparked a fire in a Yafa school building in the Al Tifa district of Gaza city.
Emergency workers have recovered the remains of a child who was burned by the flames.
Civil defense also said in a post on the Telegram messaging platform.
The attack on the school-turned-shelter has been shared on social media after it showed flames that melt into what appears to be a burning chair and bed frame, enveloping the tent structure and canvas.
Civil Defense has also issued an urgent appeal seeking support from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to help save those trapped under the tile rub after bombing two houses in Gaza city.
“The trapped people are seeking help to save them from under the tiled bleed of the house,” Civil Defense said in a statement, adding that emergency workers were unable to reach the area as they were designated as “no-go” zone by the Israeli forces.
Israeli forces launched a surprising air campaign in the Gaza Strip on March 18, killing at least 1,600 Palestinians and wounding thousands more, crushing ceasefire agreements with Palestinian group Hamas and dealings with Israeli prisoners from Palestinian prisoners.
At least 51,305 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 117,096 individuals injured in the brutal onslaught of Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
Hamas emphasizes that “we are actively approaching the proposal if we guarantee a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, an end to the Palestinian suffering, and a serious prisoner exchange contract.”
