“An explosion occurred today in a residential building on Kazbin Road, Abbasi Road, Tehran Fire Station,” said Jalal Maleki, a spokesman for the Tehran Fire Station.
He said, “The building was an old, three-storey building, and obviously people were digging wells in it, which caused gas leaks, explosions and complete destruction of the structure.”
Maleki continues, “The incident caused windows of about 12 nearby buildings to be cracked and crushed, causing major damage to the buildings and several cars.”
A fire department spokesman added: “To date, 10 people have been injured in the incident and have been taken to an emergency hospital in a hospital in the city.”
A spokesperson said “there is no accurate information on the exact number of injuries and my colleague is continuing the surgery.”
