Iranian Agriculture Minister Nouri Geserge will meet with Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Rutt and other officials to discuss ways to deepen bilateral relations in this field.
The Iranian minister, who arrived in Moscow, said that the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation is strategic, something that senior officials from both countries have also emphasized.
“We are trying to meet some of the needs through exchanges with the Russian side, and beyond that we are trying to make this country a regional food hub,” he said.
Nouri Gheserge added: “After the visit of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Moscow in January 2025 and the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Agreement between Iran and Russia, the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad started activities to develop relations with the Russian side, especially in the field of agriculture and food.”
He said: “During this period, we concluded good contracts with Russian companies and signed a good memorandum of understanding with the Russian Ministry of Agriculture to promote trade between the two countries in this field.”
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad also stated that “Russia is a very good market for some of our agricultural products and also a good market for supplying some of our needs, especially grain and oil.”
