In ICJ’s Wednesday session, Iranian diplomats said they face systemic obstacles when UNRWA and other aid agencies are offering aid to Gazan.
“The Israeli occupation regime will systematically prevent and block access to civilians in Gaza, Galibabadi said.
“Palestinians are being deprived of the basic necessities of life, such as food, fuel, water,” he added.
“The Israeli government will significantly undermine the Palestinians’ rights to health and health care,” the deputy Iranian foreign minister emphasized.
He further emphasized that UN estimates indicate that up to 1.9 million Palestinians in Gaza are classified as internally displaced.
The ICJ began a hearing at The Hague on Monday on Israel’s humanitarian duties in Palestinian territory. Minutes at the ICJ will last for five days.
The hearing was held at the request of the United Nations General Assembly last December, voted in favor of asking the World Court to consider Israel’s legal obligations. The resolution was brought by Norway after Israel banned UN agencies for Palestinian refugees from operating on Israeli-controlled territory.
