TEHRAN – At a recent meeting of ambassadors from the Non-Alliance Movement (NAM) nation held in Geneva as a side job at the UN Human Rights Council session, Iran’s permanent representative Ali Baleini submitted a ploy to support Tehran’s stance.
Baleini condemned Israel’s military attacks on Iranian territory that began on June 13, 2025, warning that such aggressive actions threatened regional stability and international law.
He called on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to take a clear stance against Israel’s actions and urged the International Commission on the Red Cross (ICRC) to explicitly condemn the attack. Bahreini emphasized that if these violations are not challenged, they could lead to increased regional instability and undermine the global legal framework.
Most NAM members reflected Iran’s concerns, condemned Israel’s attacks and reaffirmed their support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Many expressed deep concern over human rights violations resulting from the incident and called for accountability to those responsible. They also urged the Human Rights Council to deal with the humanitarian consequences of the attack.
