He made the remarks during a meeting with Venezuelan Ambassador to Tehran Jose Rafael Silva Aponte at the embassy venue on Saturday.
In addition to inviting the Venezuelan ambassador to the Iranian parliament, Foreign Minister Azizi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is always ready to support and defend independent countries with a history of fighting colonialism, and that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is also one of the countries with a bright and glorious history of standing up against the domination of global arrogance.
He then referred to Venezuela’s late leaders, including Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez, who had a stellar track record in the fight against arrogance, which the United States is also concerned about, stressing that they exert maximum pressure on the independent country under various false pretenses.
The essence of the United States is “terrorism and organized smuggling,” but it attacks different countries under the same pretext, he said, adding that attacks on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon were carried out directly and indirectly by the United States under the same various pretexts.
Azizi stressed that the United States is also a major supplier and user of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and chemical weapons, and has never sought to confront terrorists or protect human rights.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Chairman pointed to US threats against Venezuela, noting that the US has an ugly track record in the Caribbean region and that US actions are a pretext to oppose the will of the Venezuelan people.
The Special Envoy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela pointed out the double standards of the United States in different times and situations, stressing that this policy has always been clear and that the United States’ attacks in the Caribbean and attacks on small vessels under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking are a blatant lie.
José Rafael Silva Aponte said that Venezuela is on high alert as the President of Venezuela has activated the country’s defense system in accordance with the country’s defense principles.
He said that the United States has launched a fierce media war against Venezuela, adding that media and psychological warfare waged by the United States is not new to Venezuela, and that it is therefore well prepared to neutralize the US government’s media war.
