Tehran – Deputy commander for the coordination of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) warns that attempts to harm senior Iranian clergy will cause harsh regional repulsions against US interests.
In a speech on Saturday, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Nakdi warned the US and Israel about recent threats to Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking Shiite religious authorities, accusing the statements of danger, violations and Tantamful.
“Even imagining an attack on Shia religious authorities puts all American troops and civilian officials in the area at risk,” Nakdi said.
Referring directly to Trump’s latest remarks, he added: “Because of his stupidity, Trump is unable to grasp the meaning of Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistan’s message and continues to repeat his ridiculous threats.
He further warned that mere repetition of such rhetoric would not be answered without action.
In an interview with Israeli media on June 26, he threatened Ayatollah Khamenei directly in an interview with Israeli media, which revealed that the Israeli regime had created a plan to assassinate Iranian leaders. His remarks followed earlier comments by Donald Trump, who described Ayatollah Khamenei as a “easy target” on June 18th, saying, “We’re not going to take him away, at least not now.” Trump repeated the same rhetoric on Friday, claiming that he personally prevented the Israeli administration or the US military from targeting Iranian leaders.
The threat sparked widespread condemnation in Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut urged Trump to adopt a respectful tone if he is truly interested in his involvement with Iran diplomatically.
“If President Trump is genuine about his desire to do business, he should put aside his rude and unacceptable tone of Iran’s supreme leader Grand Ayatollah Khamenei,” Araguchi posted on social media.
He added: “The complexity and tenacity of the Iranians are famously reflected in our grand carpet, the product of time without patience and precise time. But as a nation, our principles are simple. We know our values. If our missiles do not tolerate illusions, Iran will not reveal its true capabilities.
Amir Sayed Irabani, the UN’s permanent representative of Iran, also filed his grievances with the UN, denounced the threat to the international community and called for his responsibility to be considered.
In a letter sent Friday to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, president of the UN General Assembly, Irabani described the remarks made by Trump and Katz as “clear and repeated instigation to assassination,” calling them “essentially illegal, irresponsible, terrorist essential terrorists.”
“These officials have openly and repeatedly threatened the leaders of the Islamic Revolution with assassinations,” the letter said. “This reckless and intentional threat constitutes a surprising violation of the UN Charter, particularly Article 2(4).
The ambassador warned that such threats risk normalizing political assassinations as a legal tool for foreign policy, thereby undermining the foundations of international legal order.
“Iran reserves its inherent rights to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, urges the UN, and in particular the Security Council, to condemn these assassinations on the strongest possible terms,” the letter read.
