Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has reassured his acting Syrian counterpart Assad al-Shaibani about Turkey’s support for Syrian unity and territorial integrity, a source from the Turkish Foreign Ministry told Tas after a call.
“Minister Fidan said that Turkey is paying attention to Syria’s development and hopes for the latest recovery of tranquility there and is ready to contribute to this end. He emphasized that Turkey supports the integrity, unity and sovereignty of Syria’s territory,” the source said.
Top Turkish diplomats also accused Israel of unacceptable interference in Syria’s internal affairs. He argued that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration must “end actions that put the stability of the region and the future of the Syrian people.”
