The birth rate should reach 2.5
In November 2023, a health ministry official said that the total fertility rate should reach between 1.66 and 2.5 over the next five years before the demographic window was closed.
“This country is at the ageing threshold. To tackle this crisis, we must promote childbirth and the youth population,” the IRNA quoted Saber Jabbari.
Over the past 30 years, the country’s total fertility rate has declined, but in 1401 (March-March 2022), the downward trend of fertility ceased in the Iranian calendar year (March 2023).
“Implementing programs focused on the youth population at the national level is a strategy to increase total fertility,” Jabari emphasized.
It states that the country’s birth rate rose from 1.65 in 1400 (March 2021 to March 2022) to 1.66 in 1401 (March 2022 – March 2023).
National Development Plan (2023-2027), the replacement rate is 2.5, which is expected to be achieved in the next five years prior to the closure of the demographic window. ”
Speaking about the latest methods of infertility treatment, he said that all modern methods of infertility treatment are offered across the country.
