Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci highlights the importance of strengthening diplomatic relations between Iran and Germany, highlighting the historic ties and the possibility of expanding cooperation between the two countries.
His remarks came during a meeting with Iran’s newly appointed German ambassador, Majid Nili Ahmadabadi, on Tuesday, ahead of Nili’s departure to Berlin.
During the meeting, Nili highlighted the importance of promoting economic, political and cultural cooperation and outlined his key priorities and strategic plans for strengthening bilateral relations. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to maintain constructive engagement with Germany, highlighting the need to explore new paths for collaboration in various sectors.
Foreign Minister Araguchi praised the longstanding diplomatic relations between Tehran and Berlin, describing them as a solid foundation for future cooperation. He emphasized that deep-rooted historical ties and mutual benefits between the two countries should serve as a basis for strengthening relationships at all levels. Araguchi also encouraged continued diplomatic efforts to overcome challenges and maximize opportunities for cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and scientific exchange.
Expressing confidence in Nili’s abilities, Araguchi hopes he will succeed in his new role and urges him to work hard to further his diplomatic relations. He highlights Germany’s influence in the European Union and the broader international community, and the importance of maintaining an open channel of communication between Tehran and Berlin.
Majid Nili Ahmadabadi brings extensive diplomatic experience to his new posts. Before being appointed as German ambassador, he served as Director of Western Europe at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to Norway, and permanent chargeéd’Affaires for Iran in the Czech Republic.
