Iran’s Foreign Minister conveyed the deep sadness of the government and its people over the serious earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.
“In these difficult times, we will spread our sincere depraved dol and sympathy to the Afghan people and the families of the victims,” he said. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to send humanitarian, medical and relief assistance.”
He said, “Our hearts lie in the resilient people of Afghanistan. We hope that through local cooperation we can overcome this tragedy and provide relief to those affected.”
At least 600 people were killed and 1,500 injured after the earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan. A US geological survey says a magnitude 6 earthquake struck just before midnight local time in eastern Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan.
