Abbas Aragchi, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran, said in an interview Thursday that Tehran will meet in person with the US unless it ensures Washington is free from the threat.
Araguchi, the Emirati delegation Anwar Ghagash, a diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, and his accompanying Emirati delegation, handed over a letter from President Donald Trump in a meeting with Iran on Wednesday in Tearan.
Iranian diplomats reiterated Tehran’s will to negotiate under the principle of “honor, wisdom and convenience.”
According to Iran’s Foreign Minister, new ideas have been proposed to solve the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He said indirect consultations are possible. “The negotiations are indirect. There is a channel established with three European countries. We are working with Grossi and the IAEA, and we have new ideas to solve the problems we are pondering about.”
In a speech on Wednesday, Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Revolution, said he called the US president for negotiations with Iran as the UAE had visited Tehran to hand over Trump’s message.
The leader also issued a harsh warning to the United States, saying that retaliation would be critical and that if Americans and their allies launched a military attack on Iran, they would be the losers.
